The Chief Executive Officer of Chilanga Cement, Mr. Chai Jianping, has won the prestigious Most Outstanding Professional Award in Africa, in cement Manafucturieing. Mr. Chai was recognized for his exceptional leadership and professional management of Chilanga Cement Plc since its acquisition by Huaxin Group three years ago.

The award is part of the 4th Africa Outstanding Professionals Awards (AFROPA), organised by the Business Executive held in The Gambia on April 3, 2025. AFROPA is a pan-continental initiative that recognizes and celebrates outstanding professionals across various fields and industries. The Africa Outstanding Professional Awards serve as a platform to highlight individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary capabilities and achievements in their respective domains.

Speaking upon receiving the award, Mr. Chai dedicated it to the Chilanga Cement Board and Huaxin Management for their support:

“I dedicate this award to the Chilanga Cement Board and the Huaxin Management for their continuous trust and support. I also extend my deepest gratitude to my management team and the dedicated employees of Chilanga Cement Plc. Your hard work, commitment, and shared vision have been instrumental in driving our success as we navigate the cement industry in Zambia and the region,” he said.

Since his appointment in 2021, Mr. Chai has spearheaded a remarkable transformation at Chilanga Cement. His leadership has driven increased investments, boosted the local economy, and expanded employment opportunities.

His initiatives have fostered cultural integration and talent development while enhancing plant equipment, optimizing operational processes, introducing new products, and extending the industry chain. As a result, Chilanga Cement has been one of Zambia’s best dividend-paying companies for three consecutive years.

Under Mr. Chai’s leadership, Chilanga Cement has received numerous prestigious awards, including recognition from Huaxin Group as the Best-Performing Overseas Company, as well as accolades from the Zambia Federation of Employers, the Zambia Environmental Management Agency, and the CSR Network Zambia. These honors reflect his commitment to employee development, environmental management, and community engagement.

In 2024, Mr. Chai was named CSR Leader of the Year by the CSR Network Zambia in recognition of his outstanding contributions to sustainable development, community initiatives, and responsible operational practices.
