HOME AFFAIRS MINISTER HON JACK MWIIMBU PRAISES CHILANGA CEMENT’S NDOLA KILN PROJECT UNDER THE HUAXIN GROUP
On December 10, 2024, a delegation from Chilanga Cement PLC, led by Chief Executive Officer Mr. Chai Jianping, paid a courtesy visit to Honourable Jack Mwiimbu, Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security. The visit underscored Chilanga Cement’s commitment to fostering open communication and keeping key stakeholders informed about its progress under the Huaxin Group.
During the meeting, Mr. Chai expressed gratitude for the Honourable Minister’s continued support and collaboration, particularly in matters related to immigration and work permits. He outlined key achievements since Huaxin Group acquired Chilanga Cement three years ago, including substantial investments in the Ndola and Chilanga plants, workforce expansion, and enhanced employee training and development programs.
In response, Honourable Mwiimbu commended Huaxin Group for fulfilling its investment pledge to modernize the Ndola plant. He also praised the company’s tax compliance, responsible business practices, and contributions to Zambia’s national development. Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the importance of knowledge transfer and encouraged Chilanga Cement to continue empowering Zambians to assume technical and managerial roles.
The Chilanga Cement delegation also highlighted the company’s impactful corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Mr. Gift Danga, Corporate Affairs and Communications Manager, detailed several community projects, including, the donation and installation of a 5kVA inverter, six solar panels, and a water pump at Chilanga Police Station, contributions to the Malundu Resettlement Project in Monze under the Office of the Vice President, cement donations to the Mutinta Hichilema Autism Centre in Kabwe and support for health facilities, educational institutions, and infrastructure development across various regions.
